02 — About
It started
with an idea.
The MedFest story, in the words of the person who started it.
A note from the Convener
In the
beginning.
In 2022, I had a simple idea: I wanted to create something that gave young people a reason to step outside the routine of school and simply experience something together.
Something around music, food, businesses, games, creativity and connection.
That idea became MedFest.
Our first edition welcomed about 185 people, powered by a small team and a lot of belief.
Special mentions to Dr Arike, Dr Miller, Dr Lewa, Dr Grace, Dr Jody, Dr Olly, Dr Ebine, Lekki, Omotayo, Kodak and Emmanuel.
We didn’t know exactly what it would become. We just knew we wanted to build something people would genuinely enjoy.
Then we did it again. And again. And again.
185 became 225. Then 265. Then 320.
With every edition, MedFest grew, not just in numbers, but in ambition, community and experience.
What started within the student community has gradually become something bigger: a platform bringing together students, young professionals, entrepreneurs, creatives, businesses and anyone looking for a great time, across the state.
The next chapter
Four editions
later.
MedFest V is a new chapter.
It’s our opportunity to take everything we’ve learned from the journey so far and create an experience that is bigger, more intentional and even more memorable.
But at its core, the original idea hasn’t changed.
- People.
- Experiences.
- Connection.
- Memories.
That’s what MedFest has always been about.
With gratitude
And I’m grateful to everyone who has been part of the journey so far — from the people who showed up at the very first edition to the teams, vendors, partners, creatives and attendees who have helped shape what MedFest is today.
Four editions in, we’re still building. And we’re just getting started.
